Honorable Dr. Mohammad Rateb Al Nabulsi,
Assalam Alaikum Wa Rahmatullah Wa Barakatuh,
Does Allah want every human being to be guided and sincere, treating each person as an individual case?
I mean Allah guides every person in a way that suits him.
He may open someone's heart and grants him insight after he listens to a sermon or hears a Hadith.
Allah may guide another person by sending him a friend who offers him sincere advice or reminds him of the truth.
However, if a person goes astray by following his desires, does Allah then increase him in misguidance and deprive his heart of the truth, leaving him astray and sealing his insight until he dies? Or does Allah intervene and treat him with Mercy, like a loving father, trying every possible way to open his eyes to the path of the truth?
If Guidance is from Allah, is misguidance from Him as well?
Sorry if I am mistaken or if I sound ignorant. I am asking because I want to understand.
Finally, please clarify the Ayat related to this issue like the following Ayah:
﴾ Have you seen him who takes his own lust (vain desires) as his ilah (god), and Allah knowing (him as such), left him astray, and sealed his hearing and his heart, and put a cover on his sight. Who then will guide him after Allah? Will you not then remember? ﴿
Allah also says in another Ayah:
﴾ Allah has set a seal on their hearts and on their hearings, (i.e. they are closed from accepting Allah’s Guidance), and on their eyes there is a covering. Theirs will be a great torment. ﴿
May Allah reward you with all good.
In The Name Of Allah The Most Gracious The Most Merciful, and may peace and blessings be upon the best of messengers, Muhammad, peace and blessings be upon him, the truthful, the trustworthy, who fulfilled his promises.
Dear brother,
Assalam Alaikum Wa Rahmatullah Wa Barakatuh,
Allah says:
﴾ Allah wishes to accept your repentance, ﴿
Allah Almighty likes only guidance for human beings, Allah says:
﴾ If you disbelieve, then verily, Allah is not in need of you, He likes not disbelief for His slaves. And if you are grateful (by being believers), He is pleased therewith for you. ﴿
However, when a person chooses to follow misguidance, Allah disciplines him by sending hardships that may lead him to abandon sins and return to his Lord.
If this person insists on following misguidance, Allah leaves him to his own choice and He allows this misguidance to continue. Thus Allah's misguidance here is a consequence of the person's own choice and free will.
Allah says:
﴾ So when they turned away (from the Path of Allah), Allah turned their hearts away (from the Right Path). And Allah guides not the people who are Fasiqun (rebellious, disobedient to Allah). ﴿
It is irrational to think that anything may happen in the Kingdom of Allah without His permission.
With that said, we can now understand what it means when Allah seals the heart and hearing of a disbeliever as a consequence of his rejection of the truth and refusal to listen to it. This sealing is a form of Allah's punishment.
