In the Name of Allah, The Most Gracious, Most Merciful
Man and the reality of existence:
Whoever knows himself knows his Lord. So, who are you, O man?
Man should know the reality of his mission in this worldly life; why did Allah the Almighty create him and bring him into this world? What is the reality of death? What happens after death? What is the reality of the Hereafter? These are fundamental realities man should know in his life. So, when he realizes these realities and fully comprehends them, they will have profound impact on his behavior, safety, and happiness.
Man, in the most precise definition, is the foremost in rank among all created beings in Allah's Sight, because when Allah the Almighty offered Al-Amanah (the trust) to all creatures in the World of pre-eternity and Divine Obligation, only man bore it. Allah the Almighty says:
﴾ Truly, We did offer Al-Amanah (the trust or moral responsibility or honesty and all the duties which Allah has ordained) to the heavens and the earth, and the mountains, ... ﴿
It seems that the term "the heavens and earth" in the Noble Quran refers to the universe; everything other than Allah the Almighty. Allah the Almighty says:
﴾ Truly, We did offer Al-Amanah (the trust or moral responsibility or honesty and all the duties which Allah has ordained) to the heavens and the earth, and the mountains, but they declined to bear it and were afraid of it (i.e. afraid of Allah's Torment). But man bore it... ﴿
Thus, only man accepted to bear Al-Amanah (the Trust) in the World of pre-eternity, and that is why he is the foremost in rank among all created beings in Allah's Sight.
Actually, the angel was created with reason and no desire, the animal was created with desire with no reason; and man was created with both reason and desire. So, if his reason has control over his desire, he becomes the best of creatures, but if his desire has control over his reason, he descends to the lowest rank of humanity.
