In the Name of Allah, The Most Gracious, Most Merciful
The reward for defending the weak:
One of the Prophet's supplications is the following:
(( It has been related that Malik had heard that the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, used to make dua saying, "O Allah, I ask You for good actions and for leaving what is disapproved of and for love of the poor. And if You wish to try people, then bring me to You without being tried." ))
He asked Allah to place the love of the helpless poor in his heart.
(( Narrated Abud-Darda': I heard the Messenger of Allah (PBUH) say: Seek for me weak persons, for you are provided means of subsistence and helped through your weaklings. ))
If you feed the hungry, clothe him when he wears rags, treat him when he is sick, shelter him when he is homeless, educate him when he is ignorant, and deal with him justly when he is oppressed, you will be rewarded. Allah Almighty will defend your cause when you are wronged by someone stronger than you.
(( …for you are provided means of subsistence and helped through your weaklings. ))
When you defend the cause of the weak, the Ummah becomes an invulnerable unity.
On the other hand, when there is a wide gap between the poor and the rich, when the wealthy do not care for the poor and when the powerful do not defend the weak, this deepens the rift in the Ummah, making it vulnerable.
(( …for you are provided means of subsistence and helped through your weaklings. ))
How do you expect to overcome your powerful enemy? When you defend the cause of those weaker than you; your reward will correspond to the nature of your deed. In other words, when you defend the one who is weaker than you, Allah Almighty will help you overcome those stronger than you.
