Lesson 26: The Virtue of Laylatul-Qadr (the Night of Decree)

In the Name of Allah, The Most Gracious, Most Merciful

Dear brothers, we are discussing the 26th lesson of this new series in which we will ponder over some Noble Ayaat starting with the phrase: "O you who believe"

Today we will reflect upon the following Noble Ayah in which Allah the Almighty says:

(Verily! We have sent it (this Quran) down in the night of Al-Qadr (Decree) * And what will make you know what the night of Al-Qadr (Decree) is? * The night of Al-Qadr (Decree) is better than a thousand months (i.e. worshipping Allah in that night is better than worshipping Him a thousand months, (i.e. 83 years and 4 months))

[Surat Al-Qadr, 1-3]

A thousand months are equivalent to about 80 years which is the average human life span. In other words, although some people live up to 90 or 100 years, the average life expectancy is about 60 or 70 years. As for the Ayah,  if you spend your entire life performing acts of worship, but you do not value Allah the Almighty as He should be valued, the sincere worship during this Night will be better than all those acts of worship you perform in your entire life which you have spent without estimating  Allah the Almighty with an estimation due to Him.
