Among the Beautiful Names of Allah is At-Tawwab:

 Ramadan is the month of forgiveness during which the gates of Paradise are open to those who fast its days and who turn to Allah. In Ramadan, Allah frees those who submit to Him from Hell-Fire, and during its blessed days, Allah's Name At-Tawwab is manifested in Its most exalted and splendid meanings. This Name is derived from Allah's Mercy upon His servants.

The difference between justice and mercy:

 The example of mercy and justice is like the example of educational institute, which has a clear system, and in which students are enrolled, lectures are delivered and exams are taken. At the end of the year, those who deserve to pass will succeed, and those who do not deserve to pass will fail. This reflects the justice of the dean. However, if this dean follows up on the students from the beginning of the academic year, and he asks for the grades of the students from their teachers after one month, then he follows up on those who need help and he offers them pieces of advice. In case they do not respond, he punishes them or calls for their parents until they become good students. In such a case, we say that the dean is not only just but also merciful.

In another example, one may hire an employee and consider him a trainee and put him on probation. During this time, he counts his mistakes, and if they become considerable, this trainee proves that he is not qualified for the job, and the boss fires him without feeling sorry. This reaction reflects justice. However, if this boss is merciful, he will treat this trainee with mercy, and may point out his mistakes and tell him how to do things the right way. Such behavior will make this trainee qualified for the job until he becomes an employee. Thus, there is a huge different between treating people around you with justice and treating them with mercy which ranks above justice.

 Allah the Almighty has created man and honored him with reason. Furthermore, Allah subjugated the heavens and the earth for man and He gave him the free will. All of that is mere Justice from Allah in treating His servants, but leaving them without further help might make them enter Hell-Fire. However, due to Allah's Mercy upon His servants, He opened for them His gates of Forgiveness. Moreover, He guides them to its paths sometimes by giving them graces (apparent bestowal) and in other times through disguised graces (i.e. affliction).

There are two types of Allah's Forgiveness to His servants:

 There are two types of Allah's Forgiveness:

-    Allah the Almighty forgives His servants by opening the gate of repentance for them.
-    Allah the Almighty forgives His servants when He afflicts them with disasters according to which people will come to His Door and will turn to Him with repentance.

 Allah the Almighty says:

﴾ Then, He accepted their repentance, that they might repent (unto Him). Verily, Allah is the One Who accepts repentance, Most Merciful.﴿

[At-Taubah, 118]

 If the servant repents to Allah, turns to Him, regretting the sins he commits, determines that he would not come back to those sins and rectifies his old corrupted course, only then Allah will forgive him in the sense of accepting his repentance. Allah the Almighty says: 

﴾ Except those who repent and do righteous deeds, and openly declare (the truth which they concealed). These, I will accept their repentance. And I am the One Who accepts repentance, the Most Merciful.﴿
