Scientific topics from sermons- lesson (397)- Medical relationship between the white days and fasting

In the Name of Allah, The Most Gracious, Most Merciful

Dear noble brothers, pay attention to the following Hadith, please:

((Yazid Ar-Rishk said: "I heard Mu'adhah saying to Aishah: 'Did the Messenger of Allah fast three days of every month?' She replied in the affirmative. So she said: 'Which of them would he fast?' She said: 'Which of them he would fast was not noticeable.'"))

[ Jami' At-Tirmithi ]

The Prophet PBUH advised his noble companions to fast three days every month as it is mentioned by Abi Dharr:

(( Abu Dharr (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated that the Messenger of Allah (PBUH) commanded us to fast for three days of every month; that is on the days of the full moon; the 13th, 14th, and 15th (of the lunar month. ))

[  An-Nasa'i, At-Tirmithi and Ibn Habban ]

In fact, I quote the above Prophetic Hadith in order to show the medical relationship between it and a well-known scientific fact that proves the relationship between man's movements and activities in life and the motion of the moon around the earth.

A researcher studied police files of crimes committed during the three white days mentioned in the above Prophetic Hadith. He found out that the number of crimes committed during these days is much greater than the number of crimes committed during the other days of the lunar month. He also found out that observing Siyaam (fasting) during these days, i.e. the 13th, 14th, and 15th of each lunar month, is very helpful in calming down people's feelings and reactions, particularly those who are nervous or high-strung.

In this context, it must be reiterated that the Prophet PBUH never spoke out of his own personal human experience or knowledge. Nay! Whatever he PBUH said is Divine Revelation from Allah, Exalted and Sublime be He. There might indeed be a relationship between the motion of the moon around the earth and neuro-psychic disorders, but Siyaam calms down and eases such disorders.
