In the Name of Allah, The Most Gracious, Most Merciful
Dear brothers, today we explore another of Allah’s Beautiful Names, and the Name for today is As Samad.
'As Samad' originally means 'the one whose help is sought’.
Whose help do you seek when you are in hardship?
Whose omnipotence do you seek?
Whose affluence do you seek?
Who is The one you seek, knowing that everything is in His Hand?
As Samad may also refer to other attributes, such as Al-Qawi (The Ever-Powerful), Al-Ghani (The Ever-Affluent), Al-Qadir (The Omnipotent), or Al-Wahid (The One, who has no peer and no partner).
All these meanings may express the essence of As-Samad.
As-Samad is The One who possesses perfection in everything. He is self-sufficient, yet everything is in need of Him, seeks His help, and relies on Him.
He is perfect in all His attributes and actions. He lacks nothing on any level; no one can ever rank His perfection. His help is sought by people to meet their needs and address all their matters.
Things are controlled by Him, and their existence depends on Him, for He is the One who manages all matters. He is the One Who is invoked in calamities and whose help is sought in times of hardship.
It is He Who feeds but is not fed. He doesn't beget, nor is He begotten.
