Islamic Ideology - Names of Allâh 2008 : An-Nasîr 2 (The Helper)

In the Name of Allah, The Most Gracious, Most Merciful

A Beautiful Name of Allâh: An_Nasîr (The Helper):

From the Requisites of Allâh’s help to the believers:

Honorable brother, we are still with Allâh’s name An_Nasîr (The Helper), and Muslims today are in great need of winning against their enemies, and how many they are!
But as I mentioned in a previous meeting that Allâh the Almighty says:

“O you who believe! If you help(in the cause of ) Allâh, He will help you..”

[Sûrat Muhammad, aya 7]

Victory is in Allâh’s hand:

“And there is no victory except from Allâh”

[Sûrat Al_Anfâl,aya 10]

The victory that we wish for has a price, if we pay for it, we will gain it. Therefore, Allâh the Almighty shows that the believer whose faith leads to his obedience to Allâh accomplishes one of the two conditions of victory.

Conditions of Victory: Faith and Preparation:

Victory has two conditions each of which is essential and not enough alone, then faith that leads to Allâh’s obedience is a must and preparation as well.

“And make ready against them all you can of power, including steeds of war (tanks, planes, missiles, artillery)”

[Sûrat Al_Anfâl, aya 60]

The fact of taking precautions/means:

That can be applied on our life welfares, excellence at work needs taking means and trusting Allâh. Both are necessary conditions but not enough, that is why most Muslims do not take all means, but they rely on Allâh in a way that does not please Him, scholars called it dependence or reliance. If some people take all means, make them Godly, forget Allâh, and depend on them entirely, they will miss their way. As if the best way is to take means as if they are everything, and then trust Allâh as if they are nothing. It is easy to take the extreme stand; taking means and forgetting Allâh, or relying on Allâh and not taking means, that is a very important lesson. Even though, some contemporary people consider every accomplishment as a battle; a battle with work, with production, and with development. The word ‘battle’ has a very wide meaning. If you want to win in any real or metaphoric battle, you must consider taking all means/ the necessary precautions as if they are everything, and depend on Allâh as if they are nothing, that is a right and a law.

“Allâh blames laziness”

[Abu Daoud]

We are blamed when we give in, feel desperate and frustrated, when we say: “we are finished”. This is despair, despair is polytheism, polytheism is pessimism, and pessimism is not a quality of believers. Therefore, we must take all means as if they are everything and after that depend on Allâh as if they are nothing.
In the broadest sense of the word ‘battle’; fighting battles, development battles, and construction battles. Name any case or problem in Muslims lives as a battle, winning that battle needs two conditions, each one is necessary but not enough, taking meanns as if they are everything, and trusting Allâh as if they are nothing. As if the best way is a narrow way with steep valleys on both sides. If you take all means and forget Allâh, depend on them and make them Godly, you will fall in the valley of polytheism. And there is disciplining from Allâh to those who are proud with other than Allâh, “no creature takes refuge with Me away from my creation, I know that from his intention, so the people of the heavens and the earth plot against him, I will find him a way out, and no creature takes refuge with a lower creature, and I know that from his intention, I will make the earth drop under his feet, and I will terminate all means of the heavens between his hands.”

Allâh Blames Laziness:

Therefore: the best method for all our battles starting with our battle with ourselves, and ending with our battle with the evil powers on earth, we need two conditions, each of which is necessary but not enough; taking means as if they are everything and trusting Allâh as if they are nothing.

“Allâh blames laziness, but be courteous, if you are overwhelmed say: ‘Allah (Alone) is Sufficient for me, and He is the Best Disposer of affairs (for me)”

[Abu Daoud from Auf Bin Mlik]

People with desperation and frustration are blamed greatly.
But you have to be courteous, take all means, if you take them and you are still overwhelmed, and you did your best in taking them, and probing them, and you do not succeed, then we call this fate and predestination, and then we would say: “Allah (Alone) is Sufficient for us, and He is the Best Disposer of affairs (for us)”. We can’t say that unless we take all means.
A student wants to sit for an exam, but he doesn’t prepare for it, and then he does not pass, and says: that is what Allâh wanted, it is Allâh’s will, those are void words, but when he studies as much as he can, and then something happens and prevents him from sitting for the exam, he can say then: “Allah (Alone) is Sufficient for me, and He is the Best Disposer of affairs (for me)”
I am shedding light on the most dangerous issue in Muslims lives, that is dependency/reliance, then, victory has its price, that is taking all means, and trusting Allâh, Lord of the Lords.
But dear brother, a nice noble hadith is worth mentioning here:
From Anas, he said:

“The prophet PBUH used to say a lot: “O changer of hearts, fix my heart on your religion, so I said: messenger of Allâh, we believed in you and in what you brought us, are you afraid for us? he said: yes, hearts are between two fingers of Allâh’s, He turns them however He wants”

[At-Tirmithi]

That hadith needs explanation: Allâh the Almighty made man’s heart in His hands, He fills it with peace or fear, happiness or distress and narrowness, what is the organizer of that? Allâh wanted to teach us that if we make a good right decision in repenting to Allâh and making peace with Him and His obedience, He will fill our hearts with satisfaction, happiness, optimism and happiness, as if Allâh blessed this decision for us, and helped us with it, the evidence:

“..Allâh has endeared the Faith to you and has beautified it in your hearts, and has made disbelief, wickedness and disobedience (to Allâh and His Messenger PBUH) hateful to you,..”

[Sûrat Al_Hujurât (The Dwellings), aya 7]

That is a right decision that he finds relief in it.

“Is he whose breast Allâh has opened to Islam, so that he is in light from his Lord (as he who is a non-Muslim)”

[Sûrat Az_Zumar (The Groups) aya 22]

Any mistaken decision in the battle is accompanied by depression and distress.

“But whoever turns away from My Reminder (i.e. neither believes in this Qur’an nor acts on its teachings) verily, for him is a life of hardship, and We shall raise him up blind on the Day of Resurrection.”

[Sûrat Tâ_Hâ, aya 124]

Consequences of the right and the mistaken decisions:

That is help from Allâh the Almighty, the wise decision is accompanied by pleasure, openness, peace of soul, approach and glory while the mistaken decision is accompanied by distress, depression, pessimism. This is almost the disease of this era, caused by the turning away of people from Allâh the Almighty. Even though, everything that people suffer from such as loss, pessimism and frustration are all symptoms of one disease; the turning away from Allah.

“But whoever turns away from My Reminder (i.e. neither believes in this Qur’an nor acts on its teachings.)verily, for him is a life of hardship, and We shall raise him up blind on the Day of Resurrection.”

[Sûrat Tâ_Hâ, aya 124]

Every strong powerful person is in the hands of the Most Powerful, so never fear anyone other than Allâh:

Now what has this talk got to do with victory? The one that you see as strong, as a tyrant, has his heart in the hands of Allâh, as a witness to the thought.
Imam Hasan Al_Basri was one of the great followers, he brought about the integrity of science, and showed what he should have showed. He lived at the time of Hajjaj, and you know Hajjaj, who heard what Al_Hasan had said about him, so he said to his companions: “ O you cowards, by Allâh I will show you his blood”, and he ordered him to be killed. The case is very simple, and he brought the sword man and ordered his people to bring Al_Hasan in order to cut his head in front of the people who were around him. So, Al_Hasan Al_Basri was brought, and he saw the sword man, and the leather mattress was spread for the head to get down on, and everything was over. He moved his lips (murmured something) when Al_Hajjaj said to him: “welcome Abu Sa’îd, you are the master of scientists, and he kept getting him closer and closer until he sat him on his bed, and he consulted him on a matter. The narration mentions that he perfumed him and honored him and walked him to the door of his palace. The doorman was stunned and followed Al_Hajjaj and asked him what he had said, for he was brought for something other than what really happened. He said: “ I said to Allâh: “ O my console at my distress, my entertainer at my loneliness, make his distress on me cool and peace the way you made fire cool and peace to Ibrahim (Abraham)”
The one you fear has his heart in the hands of Allâh, the powerful who wishes your destruction has his heart in Allâh’s hands, Allâh may fill him with grace for you, therefore Allâh is Nasîr because the hearts of the people around you are in Allâh’s hands, didn’t one of the prophets say?

“..So plot against me, all of you, and give me no respite”

[Sûrat Hûd (Prophet) Hûd, aya 55 ]

Defying them:

“ I put my trust in Allâh, my Lord and your Lord! There is not a moving (living) creature but He has the grasp of its forelock. Verily, my Lord is on the Straight Path (the truth).”

[Sûrat Hûd (Prophet) Hûd, aya 56 ]

This verse alone is not enough:

“..There is not a moving (living) creature but He has the grasp of its forelock. Verily, my Lord is on the Straight Path (the truth).”

[Sûrat Hûd (Prophet) Hûd, aya 56]

Therefore:

“hearts are between two fingers of Allâh’s, He turns them however He likes”

[At-Tirmithi]

First: He fills your heart with openness, happiness and security when you make a right decision, and He fills it with fear, worry, distress, and pessimism when you make a mistaken decision, therefore Allâh helped you in this.
The heart of the one that you fear is in Allâh’s hands, He fills it with grace to you, and whoever fears Allâh, is feared by everything, he has a desire to help you. If Allâh is with you, your enemies will serve you, and if Allâh is against you, your relatives will go far against you. O Lord, what has he lost he who has found You, and what has he found he who has lost You?
Therefore the hearts of the people you fear are in Allâh’s hands, then: He is ‘An_Nasîr’ the Helper

From the Requisites of Allâh’s constant being with the believers:

“..And He is with you wheresoever you may be”

[Sûrat Al-Hadîd (Iron) aya 4]

But partners may not be with you at a critical time, and He is with you in the heaven, when you are on the plane, on the earth, at sea, at home, in the desert, in a place where there is no communication. Man has a cell phone, sometimes he needs it badly when he finds that there is no connection, whereas you are always with Allâh and He is with you in His knowledge.

“..And He is with you wheresoever you may be”

[Sûrat Al-Hadîd (Iron) aya 4]

Scholars said: “ He is with you in His knowledge”, if you are a believer, Allâh is with the believers, and He is with you in His good fortune and protection, with His support and help. Therefore, scholars distinguished between the general companionship and the private one; the general is that He is with you in His knowledge and the private one is that He is with you as a supporter and a cause of good fortune, a protector and a Helper as well.
Therefore: Allâh the Almighty exists, if you call Him, He is there, and man cannot call a party he/she doesn’t believe in its existence, he /she will be a fool. Just calling Him and saying: O Lord, then, He exists.
The second thing: He hears you if you speak, sees you if you move, and knows what’s in your heart if you keep something hidden. He hears, sees, and knows. He doesn’t need a guardian, nor a supporter, nor a quittance. Allâh knows, sees, and hears. Dealing with Him is very easy, therefore some people said: Praise be to Allâh for the existence of Allâh, He sees you if you move, hears you if you speak, and knows what’s in your mind if you keep silent, therefore: He exists and knows.
The third thing: And He is capable of everything, everything is in His hands, Be and it is, cease to exist and so it does:

“O my slaves, if your first and last, your mankind and jinn all stood together in one domain and asked Me and I gave everyone their request, it would decrease nothing I Have except the same way the needle decreases when it is put in the sea.”

[Muslim from Abu-Thar]

That is because my grant is talk and my taking is talk.
Be and it is, cease to exist and so it does, now pay attention:

“It’s nothing but your deeds I count for you, and then I complete it for you, whoever finds goodness, let him praise Allâh, and whoever finds other than that, then he has no one to blame but himself.”

[Muslim from Abu_Thar]

Allâh the Almighty said:

“And whatever of misfortune befalls on you, it is because of what your hands have earned. And He pardons much.”

[Sûrat Ash-Shûra (The Consultation) aya 30]

“Not a slip, nor a shiver of a vein, nor a scratch of a stick, is but from your own doings, and Allâh does not forgive more.”

[mentioned by As_Sayouti in the small collection from Al_Bara’ with a source with large essay]

A meaning of An_Nasîr that might be obscured to some people:

There are some cases for some doctors which they connected with superstitions, but they neglected them. Now there are new researches about self cure. The disease is fatal and the doctors agree that it is incurable, and the sick person heals by himself, and when man believes that everything is in Allâh’s hands, and Allâh is capable of everything, sometimes He responds to him in an incredible way.
By Allâh I have a friend who had a malignant tumor in his lungs, biopsy was made in all laboratories, even in the United Kingdom, the tumor was from the fifth degree and there was no hope whatsoever. Then in the end Allâh the Almighty cured him, that was twenty two years ago, and now he is still alive and doesn’t have any complaint. The most accurate tests were made and the best doctors treated him and said: there is no hope, but we know that there is self cure.
Therefore ‘An_Nasîr’ (The Helper) might help you defeat disease, the enemy, and even any battle you go through in the largest sense of the word, He is an Excellent Maulâ (Patron, Lord, Protector and Supporter), and an Excellent Nasîr (Helpe).
Honorable brother, when you invoke to Allâh the Almighty and say: “O Helper help me, He exists, hears, and has ability, and He likes to have mercy on you, and you will never invoke to/call upon a party unless you are certain of its existence, capability and mercy, therefore, Allâh the Almighty said:

“Say (O Muhammad PBUH to the disbelievers): “My Lord pays no attention to you only because of your invocation to Him. But now you have indeed denied (Him)..”

[Sûrat Al-Furqân (The Criterion) aya 77]

Allâh is greater than everything, so never give up hope no matter what:

When you say: Allâh is the Greatest, He is greater than every powerful, bigger then every tyrant, Allâh the Almighty said:

“..the companions of Mûsâ (Moses) said:”We are sure to be overtaken”

[Sûrat Ash-Sh’arâ’(The Poets), aya 61 ]

Pharaoh with his malice and tyranny, his weapons and army followed a troop from Israel with our Master Mûsa (Moses), they reached the sea, there was no hope of survival, hope ended, it was zero, Allâh the Almighty said:

“..the companions of Mûsâ (Moses) said:”We are sure to be overtaken, Mûsâ (Moses) said: “Nay, verily with me is my Lord. He will guide me.”

[Sûrat Ash-Sh’arâ’(The Poets), aya 61 ]

Our master Yûnis when he was in the whale’s tummy, hope was zero, man can stand in the mouth of the whale on his feet, you can stand in his mouth, his meal is four tons, man weighs about eighty kilos, Allâh the Almighty said:

“..saying: Lâ ilâha illâ Anta [none has the right to be worshipped but You (O Allâh)]Glorified (and Exalted) are You [above all that (evil) they associate with You]! Truly, I have been of the wrong-doers (87) So We answered his call, and delivered him from the distress. And thus We do deliver the believers (who believe in the Oneness of Allâh, abstain from evil and work righteousness).”

[Sûrat Al-Anbiyâ’ (The Prophets), aya 87, 88]

The most fantastic thing about the verse is that Allâh has turned the story into a law, Allâh the Almighty said:

“And thus We do deliver the believers (who believe in the Oneness of Allâh, abstain from evil and work righteousness).”

[Sûrat Al-Anbiyâ’ (The Prophets), aya 88]

Every era, every country, every time, every place; in the air, on earth, a plane was destroyed over the Alps, it was split and some passengers fell on a cedar forest on the Alps covered with five meters of snow, the snow and the branches received the shock, a passenger went down on his feet from the height of forty thousand feet!
If Allâh is with you, then who is against you? And if He is against you, who is with you?
Well then, you say: Allâh is the Greatest, Greater than every powerful. From a very accurate scientific reference, the tsunami equals a million atomic bombs, Allâh the Almighty is very powerful, if you are with the Powerful, He will protect you, He is an excellent Maula and excellent Helper.
Honorable brother, the battle needs information, if you are with Allâh, He knows what your enemies are plotting against you, therefore He inspires you with a plan that defeats their plans. You are the strongest person if you are with Allâh. If you want to be powerful, ask Allâh in supplication, supplication is the Muslims’ weapon, but it needs action. Those who ask Allâh and do nothing, they trifle with it, our master Omar said to a man: “ what are you doing with this scabby camel? He said: I am supplicating to Allâh to cure him, he said, would you make tar with your supplication?”
The enemy might be powerful, but Allâh is more powerful, Allâh is the Greatest, the enemy might be planning, read this verse accurately:

“Indeed, they planned their plot, and their plot was with Allâh, though their plot was not such as to remove the mountains (real mountains or the Islamic law) from their places (as it is of no importance)”

[Sûrat Ibrâhîm (Abraham), aya 46]

A Great God describes the plot of polytheists that mountains are removed by it, then He says a while later:

“But if you remain patient and become Al-Muttaqûn [the pious], not the least harm will their cunning do to you. “

[Sûrat Al_Imrân (The Family of Imran), aya 120]

The creator of the universe, words of the Lord of the worlds, all their equipment, weapons, money, satellites, aircraft carriers, Allâh the Almighty said:

“But if you remain patient and become Al-Muttaqûn [the pious], not the least harm will their cunning do to you. “

[Sûrat Al_Imrân (The Family of Imran), aya 120]

Now one of the biggest employees at the Pentagon say: no country in the world has the gut to fight against us, what shall we do with these weapons? But that who wanted to die, what shall we do about him? he made the people of the earth sleepless, he wanted to shake their bases and pay his life cheap for that purpose. If man won for a another man, Allâh the Almighty said:

“If you invoke (or call upon )them, they hear not your call; and if (in case) they were to hear, they could not grant it (your request) to you”

[Sûrat Fatir or Al-Malâ’ikah (The Originator of Creation, or the Angels), aya 14]

The way of man is that he/she is not always with you, you may be in great need of him/her, his/her telephone is busy, or out of reach, or not working. If you depend on a creature, he may not hear you, and if he hears you, he might not respond to you, and sometimes he may ignore you.
An excellent Maula and excellent Nasîr, be with Allâh and do not care, and Allâh the Almighty likes to help us, but He asks us to pay the price of victory.

Summary:

To summarize this meeting, obedience with patience is a way to victory, but disobedience with patience is only rewarded with the grave.
